Change in the Operations and IT group
Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec announced a change in its Operations and IT group following Pierre Miron’s appointment to the position of Executive Vice-President, Information Technology at Industrial Alliance, where he will join the management team and lead 1,200 people in Canada and the United States.
“Over the last eight years, Pierre completely overhauled and modernized our technology and operational infrastructures, enhancing their performance to support our business objectives. The remarkable job he’s done has made la Caisse even more effective and efficient by giving us the tools we need to reach our goals,” highlighted Michael Sabia, President and Chief Executive Officer of la Caisse. “Pierre’s positive and constructive leadership has left its mark on la Caisse. He also focused on developing a pool of talent, which will ensure a smooth transition. On behalf of my colleagues and myself, I would like to thank him for all that he’s done and for the solid foundations he has built,” he added.

Mr. Miron joined la Caisse in 2010, after holding several management positions at CGI, National Bank Financial and National Bank of Canada, and was in charge of operations and information technology, in addition to special projects, notably on Fintech.
Appointment of Alexandre Synnett as Executive Vice-President, Digital Technology and Operations
Following Mr. Miron’s appointment at Industrial Alliance, la Caisse announced that Alexandre Synnett, currently Senior Vice-President, Operations, will replace Mr. Miron as the leader of the Operations and Information Technology teams. Mr. Synnett is appointed Executive Vice-President, Digital Technology and Operations and will report to Maarika Paul, Chief Financial Officer. He will also join the Executive Committee.
At la Caisse for 8 years, Mr. Synnett has over 20 years of experience in operations and IT, and has worked the last 15 years in the financial sector. Before joining la Caisse, he held a variety of management positions at National Bank Financial and National Bank of Canada.
Mr. Synnett holds a Master’s in Business Administration with a specialization in financial services from Université du Québec à Montréal, a Graduate Diploma in Information Technology from École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS-UQAM), and an Advanced Certificate for Executives in Management (ACE) from the MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston.
“Alexandre’s appointment to lead the Operations and IT group clearly demonstrates how important we believe succession is and the depth of la Caisse’s talent pool. I am quite pleased that he agreed to take on this challenge to build on the last eight years of work and add to la Caisse’s capabilities, especially in terms of information management and data analytics,” noted Mr. Sabia.

Mr. Miron and Mr. Synnett will ensure an orderly transition over the coming weeks. Mr. Synnett will officially start in his new role on August 20.
