Leadership

Karen Horstmann is Managing Director, Real Estate, for the United States. She is responsible for U.S. strategies, investments and asset management, and leads the U.S. real estate team.

Ms. Horstmann has more than 25 years of experience in real estate investment management. Before joining CDPQ, she served as Head of Investments at Allianz Real Estate of America. She also founded the North American platform for Norges Bank Investment Management and scaled the portfolio from zero to $28 billion in assets. Earlier in her career, she launched Meyer Bergman’s inaugural fund and held investment positions with Dubai Investment Group and Goldman Sachs’ Real Estate Principal Investment Area, based in London.

Ms. Horstmann holds a Bachelor of Science with a major in Finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is the Chair of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE) and is a Key Leader and Global Governing Trustee of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Americas Executive Committee.
